I am currently a doctor working in Clinical Genetics. In this role I have first-hand experience of working with patients and families who have rare diseases. Through this work I gain some idea of the challenges faced by these patients, and their priorities. As a doctor I also have some knowledge of how the health service works on the front-line, and potential ways to navigate this system. I also have access to professional networks which may can support collaborative working for the benefit of rare disease patients. I am also willing to use my knowledge and resources to educate others about rare disease.
